Kentucky Equine Research continued its tradition of providing speakers at Equitana, and this year those included Peter Huntington, David Nash, and Rebecca Ham. Equitana 2022 was held in Melbourne 10-13 November at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

Peter Huntington’s talk, “Digestive Health is the Key to Good Health,” covered many areas of gastrointestinal importance: common disorders and their signs, management strategies for digestive issues, and how best to select an appropriate gastric supplement.

In his presentation titled “Should My Horse Quit Sugar? Demystifying the Sugar and Carb Craze,” David Nash explained the amount of sugar in common feedstuffs and outlined health issues that may require a reduced-sugar diet.

In “Feeding the OTT Horse,” Rebecca Ham offered advice on how to best nourish horses as they transition from racehorse to performance or pleasure horse. Rebecca was joined by Amanda Ross and her off-track horse during the presentation.

“The education I have received from Kentucky Equine Research over the years has been priceless to me and my clients,” Amada said.
