The Use Of Non-invasive Techniques To Predict Bone Mineral Content And Bone Strength In The Horse
Lawrence, L. A. and E. A. Ott 1985. The use of non-invasive techniques to predict bone mineral content and bone strength in the horse. Proc. Equine Nutr. Physiol. Soc. 9:110.
Photon absorption, radiographic photometry and ultrasound were tested on a common group of equine metacarpals to determine their ability to predict bone mineral content (BMC) and breaking strength. Tests were performed on 25 pairs of metacarpals collected from equine cadavers ranging in age from 1 d to 27 yr.
