Alycia Targa and CP Dresden placed seventh in a strong field at the FEI Grand Prix CDI3* held at Boneo Park in Victoria. We caught up with Alycia before her ride to talk about all things nutrition and to see how Mr. Des, as she calls her horse, was feeling.

“B-Quiet allows me to gain a little bit more attention and focus on me and not the crowd around him. It just takes a bit of edge off to allow us to get the maximum from him, too,” Alycia noted.

B-Quiet® is a thiamine supplement formulated to treat the symptoms of thiamine deficiency, including hyperirritability and nervousness, in excitable, high-strung horses. B-Quiet is also available as a paste that provides concentrated levels of thiamine and magnesium.

Magnesium has an important role in muscle and nerve function. Horses that are deficient in magnesium may show signs of spooky and excitable behaviour and may suffer muscle tremors or cramping. Recent research has shown that magnesium supplementation can positively influence behaviour in horses during stressful situations.

“I believe good nutrition is key to a horse’s performance,” explained Alycia. “Whenever I have any questions, I can call Kentucky Equine Research and ask a nutritionist for advice.”

Alycia relies on B-Quiet®, Bio-Bloom® HF, EquiShure®, and Synovate HA® from KER Targeted Nutrition to keep her horses in top condition while competing.
