Feeding all of the horses on a breeding farm requires considerable thought. From keeping mares and stallions in tip-top condition for optimal fertility to feeding young horses for safe growth, each stage of life comes with special nutritional needs.

To help the owners of breeding stock, Horse Chats recently republished the “Ten Tips on Feeding Basics for Breeding Horses” as part of the Listeners’ Choice series of most listened to and commented on podcasts. In this episode, Dr. Huntington and host Glenys Cox discuss ten nutrition tips for breeding horses, including the impact of body condition on breeding, fertility, and foaling problems; practical management considerations for herd feeding; measures to reduce the risk of developmental orthopedic disease (DOD); and much more.
