Kentucky Equine Research-sponsored rider Buck Davidson successfully competed at the Rocking Horse Winter 1 Horse Trials held in Altoona, Florida, from January 28-30, 2022.

Buck piloted the Thoroughbred gelding, Jak My Style, around the Open Intermediate A, scoring a 28.6 in the dressage phase. With only one rail down in stadium jumping and a clear run cross-country, Buck and Jak My Style completed the event with a score of 32.6 in second place. Buck also rode Cooley Candyman in the division with a fourth-place finish, as well as piloting Erroll Gobey to place eighth.

In the Open Intermediate B, Buck competed on both Carlevo and Sorocaima. Buck and Carlevo put in a beautiful dressage test to score a 19.1 and land in first place at the start of the competition. After a clear stadium round and 4.8 points for time in cross-country, Buck and Carlevo won the division with a score of 23.9. Buck and Sorocaima’s dressage score of 30.7, clear stadium round, and 6.4 time faults on cross-country earned the team a seventh-place finish.

Buck and Inle, the 2015 Thoroughbred gelding, placed third in the Preliminary Horse division.

Buck relies on KER Sport Horse Nutrition feeds to supply nutrition that ensures his horses perform their best. “KER has always been the authority on feeding high-performance sport horses,” Buck said. “I’ve always relied on KER-formulated feeds.”

Meanwhile, at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, barrel racer Dona Kay Rule and her 13-year-old gelding, High Valor, had the fastest time at the highly anticipated Wild Card Wednesday event. With a time of 16.26 seconds, the pair finished the night in first place and earned a spot in the semi-finals. While the semi-finals didn’t go their way, Dona Kay’s season is just gearing up and she has high hopes for High Valor in 2022.
