Question

I’m looking for an alternative to powdered vitamin E. Is your vitamin E a liquid product? Is it d-tocopherol succinate? My horse is on a medication that has put her off supplements, especially powdered ones. I’m looking for a very bioavailable, liquid vitamin E supplement for her.

Answer

Nano-E is a water-soluble (liquid) form of vitamin E that is a highly, and arguably the most, bioavailable form of natural vitamin E. It is not d-tocopherol succinate, as it is a nanodispersed form of d-alpha-tocopherol.

Most vitamin E products on the market are synthetic acetate, natural acetate, or succinate (dry powder/pellet). Synthetic vitamin E is not absorbed as well by the horse as natural vitamin E. Natural acetate/succinate is a form of alpha-tocopherol that has been chemically joined with an acid (a process known as esterification) to shield it from oxidative damage and denaturation. Once ingested, digestive enzymes called esterases must free alpha-tocopherol for absorption. Water-soluble vitamin E sources, such as Nano-E, are natural alcohols that do not require esterification and are significantly more bioavailable.

Nano-E goes one step further than other water-soluble products by encapsulating the fat-soluble vitamin E in a liposome, which allows it to be absorbed quickly into the bloodstream. Nano-E increases serum vitamin E within 12 hours.
