The Equine Health and Wellness EXPO is back for 2024! February will see the much-anticipated, one-of-a-kind event for horse lovers take place right here, at the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle. The EXPO is a world-class educational day, with lectures tailored specifically for horse owners and riders. The event will host two lecture streams, allowing participants to choose the topics that pique their interest. The Equine Health and Wellness EXPO team has brought together a group of passionate, well-known speakers, each of whom is an expert in their field. For those who like to do a little browsing, the lecture stream is complemented by a large trade exhibition.

The EXPO is the brainchild of Perth-based company, Platinum CPD. Cofounded and directed by Registered Specialist in Equine Medicine, Dr Emma McConnell, Platinum CPD provides premium-quality continuing professional development (CPD) for veterinary professionals – and now horse owners! Emma has a passion for disseminating information about key equine veterinary care advancements to the wider horse community. With a firm belief in building strong client-vet relationships and owner education, Emma is dedicated to connecting veterinary developments and recent research to practical applications in the field. Making that information available to horse owners is a key driver for the EXPO.

What can attendees expect from the event? Platinum CPD has a reputation for excellent professional standards. When putting together the lecture streams, the focus has been on engaging and valuable content on topics that are relevant to horse owners, whether they are pleasure horse enthusiasts, elite competition riders, or professional trainers.

There is a Pegasus connection to the EXPO. Michelle Meylan, the Pegasus equine nutrition advisor, will be presenting on aspects of equine nutrition. With a focus on feeding for performance, this session will delve into energy metabolism, different fuels, and the feed sources they come from, and how to apply that to the exercise level of individuals. It will also explain how we access the different components of feed, such as starch, soluble fibre, and sugar, to form a complete diet. It will also consider practical applications to help horse owners make decisions specific to their horses.
