Kentucky Equine Research-sponsored rider Liz Halliday-Sharp earned top placings at horse trials in two different states over the weekend.

Liz began her weekend at the Pine Top Advanced Horse Trials in Thomson, Georgia, where she and Cooley Quicksilver won the Advanced Test A-B division. “Very, very proud of Cooley Quicksilver for winning the Advanced at Pine Top for a second year in a row with a double clear and a personal best dressage of 24.8! Love this special 9-year-old owned by The Monster Partnership. Big future ahead for this boy!” Liz said in a Facebook post. Liz also finished second in Open Intermediate-A with Flash Cooley and third in Intermediate Horse with Cooley Stormwater.

As soon as she wrapped up at Pine Top, Liz hit the road for Groveland, Florida, to ride in the Three Lakes Horse Trials, where she earned a one-two finish in the Open Training-A. Liz and Shanroe Cooley took the lead early on and remained at the top after two double-clear jumping rounds to bring home the blue ribbon. Cooley Starship also jumped clear, finishing on his dressage score and moving up from third to second place behind his stablemate.

We caught up with Liz at Pine Top to hear how she keeps her horses in tip-top shape despite a demanding travel schedule. “Horses naturally get vitamin E if they’re out on good grass all of the time; they’re obviously natural grazers. When the horses are working hard in different conditions and different areas, especially with little turnout, they require a highly bioavailable source of vitamin E,” she said.
