Milne Feeds supports the equine community, in part by sponsoring many competitions, events, and fundraisers, from the grassroots level to elite disciplines. One example is WA’s only three-day event, the Wooroloo International Three-Day Event, which will be held at Wooroloo Prison Farm on 16-18 August 2019 by kind permission of the Department of Corrective Services. This international event hosts the only CCI4*-L class in WA and is an important fixture for WA riders seeking to qualify for larger spring shows in the Eastern states. Milne is proud to be a sponsor of this event, which will feature a Milne Feeds cross-country fence.

The hardworking Perth Horse Trials Association (PHTA) team is continually striving to make improvements to the event. We hear that this year’s course features a new water feature, along with other upgrades. In 2019, the PHTA has committed to upgrading medical cover for riders and spectators, with a dedicated trauma doctor on-site to support the event paramedics, in response to the new safety initiatives being implemented by Equestrian Australia.

The event at Wooroloo has a long history since its inception in 1981 when Perth Horse Trials (then WA Horse Trials) moved from Mindaroo in Gidgegannup to the current venue with permission of the Department of Corrective Services. The original course was designed by Fiona John and consisted of Pre-Novice and Novice levels only (now 1* and 2*). Since then, the course has expanded to now include tracks for all levels to 4*. It is continually being modified and improved by course designer, Wayne Copping, and can be run in both directions, giving riders plenty of variety and new challenges over the two competitions held each year.

The course is a particular favourite for spectators, with excellent viewing of most of the cross-country from the hilltop vantage point. Changes to the timetable for 2019 mean that spectators will be able to enjoy exciting cross-country and show-jumping action on both Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 August. Dressage begins on Friday 16 August.

We wish PHTA and all riders at the event every success. Look out for the Milne Feeds’ cross-country jump. Take a photo of yourself with the jump, share on Facebook or Instagram, and tag Pegasus feeds for your chance to win a free bag of feed!
