Iona Robinson is one of our 2023-2024 research interns. Iona is originally from Hampshire, England, and where she competed in British Showjumping events regularly with her Swedish Warmblood mare, Meredith, who is now enjoying a quiet, retired life. Iona completed her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in equine science at Hartpury University in Gloucestershire, England. Equine nutrition was her favorite module throughout University, which led her to complete two research projects looking at the nutritional and microbial content of hay and haylage.

Iona is looking forward to exploring a wider range of nutrition research areas throughout her internship as well as getting to experience exercise physiology research for the first time. She is also excited to experience as much U.S. culture as possible. After completing her internship, Iona plans to pursue a career in the equine nutrition industry and potentially go on to complete a Ph.D.
