Join Katie Young, Ph.D., of Kentucky Equine Research as she discusses feeding and management strategies to avoid digestive issues, including gastric ulcers and colic.

Young reviews the digestive anatomy and physiology of horses to the nth degree, explaining in detail how they differ from humans and other animals, especially cattle. She highlighted the causes, diagnosis, and treatment common digestive problems, such as gastric ulcers and hindgut acidosis. Management strategies for diagnosed horses depend largely on research-proven, targeted supplementation and other dietary changes. In many instances, horses that are managed properly can thrive and lead healthy lives as performance horses or breeding stock.

The webinar was originally presented in partnership with the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association.

Young began working for Kentucky Equine Research in 2019 after extensive experience in the feed industry working for both regional and national feed companies.

Kentucky Equine Research has worked for more than 30 years to find ways to properly nourish horses, including those diagnosed with different digestive problems, and has developed a range of supplement products targeted towards maintaining a healthy digestive tract. Product availability may differ depending on region.
