It’s opening ceremony day! Despite worries about the impending Hurricane Florence, excitement is high and everyone working on the venue is ready to get this show going. The actual show is something of an afterthought to those working behind the scenes—if you can catch a glimpse, great, but there are another 800 horses to be fed.

There’s no rest for the feed and forage crew as flights of horses continue to arrive into quarantine throughout the week. Changes to stabling to adjust for weather and construction conditions also have our crews hopping, sometimes trying to find relocated horses in their new digs.

Stabling at WEG 2018Speaking of stabling, the stalls are thoughtfully designed. They all feature full mats, fans, outlets, and there are hoses everywhere.
