The largest commercial airlift of horses in history is well underway, with endurance, reining, dressage, and eventing horses on the venue. Groups pass through post-arrival quarantine before moving on to their competition stabling. Several teams have had issues with their feeds being seized by airport officials. As these horses arrive, we’re fast-tracking comparable feeds into the post-arrival quarantine barns so they can have meals, along with hay and carrots, before moving on. This is challenging, as some shipments of horses arrive in the evening, giving a tight window before the quarantine barns close for deliveries for the night. To prepare, we dropped a hefty supply of hay and carrots into the quarantine zone before the horses arrived, only to hear a few hours later that no hay was available. Where these 40-plus bales ended up will be one of great mysteries of Tryon 2018.

The crew is also delivering to the cleared horses preparing for competition. Excitement is high among teams and the feed and forage crew!
