With Hurricane Florence apparently aiming for the venue, our team is working to ensure the horses onsite continue to have access to feed and forage. Enter “hurricane hay.”

Typically when a team rep needs to order feed or hay, they walk to our office and fill out a form. We pull their selections from our warehouse and storage trailers, throw it on a cart, and deliver to their stall. Throughout the process we maintain inventory and bill items by team. With the potential wind and rain issues forecast, we’re now pre-loading pallets of hay into each barn in case we can’t safely get carts out to deliver.

The intention is to draw off these pallets and deliver to teams without having to move it across the venue in the worst weather.

“We’ll still deliver it, and it won’t be a free-for-all, but this way we can do it with the least amount of interruption, and keep our people safe at the same time,” says our onsite logistics leader Jeff Day.
